Unions are too powerful. There should be restrictions on them too. Ford cannot afford to build and sell automobiles when the cost of building the cars – (employee wages, unions, overhead) out weighs the profits. The Company is going under because the worker’s are getting paid too damned much – you have one guy who is senior being with the company for 25 years putting one part on the car day after day after day making over 100,000 per year that is so ridiculous…….do you really think for a minute the japanese are paying their worker’s these kinds of ridiculous wages. Then you have the Ford CEO’s paying themselves ridiculous wages/bonuses/raises year after year. In an economy like we have now where everyone is strapped, Ford cannot afford to stay afloat.
Neither can other Car Companies – or even Sears. We don’t have the proper balance of Rich/Middle Class/Poor, now it’s Very RIch/ and / Very poor or just barely making it. Our Government leaders are so stupid. They’re the ones to blame for being so bull headed, not coming together as a group always being two sided all the time, Dem on one side Republican on the other, never passing the right bills into law to make things work. We now have banks that are deregulated, – now we have all these bad brokers out there signing poor people up for loans they don’t qualify for $400,000 and not explaining anything to them about what an ARM mortgage is…..how ridiculous and government doesn’t do a thing to regulate this behavior of banks??? How stupid is that??? now you have Chinese and India coming in and buying up all the bankrupt American properties…lol…you have Bush in the middle east begging for money, and borrowing money from china, Bush has us in over a trillion dollar deficit, and our Government passing “unfair” trade agreements, making shady deals with big corporations – telling them “you can make big profits if you out-source to workers in India and China, and if you do that, uncle sam will give you a huge tax break” then there’s McCain and the Keating 5 Savings and Loan Scandal years back, then there’s the Enron Scandal – which I’m sure if we pushed that issue, Bush could be tied to that corruption, then there’s Cheney and Bush making money hand over fist in investments with Haliburton with all those no bid contracts Haliburton has in Iraq, and on and on we go, so much damned coruption in our Government leader’s especially Republicans………I ask Americans who vote – why are we allowing our Government to do things like this???? WE don’t do enough investigating into how corrupt some of these Politicians are we’re voting into office. These shady , crooked Politicians have their own agenda (small interest groups), none of them seem to be looking out for the average American. America is now falling apart at the seams, going bankrupt and down the tubes thanks to our corrupt republican Government. Republicans making sure all the right bills get passed to ensure the collapse of the middle class American. How stupid. We need to have a different form of Government – Democrat. We should put in effect a law where you can’t be here in America if you’re illegal, we should put into law that every American must vote if you’re 18 or older. Current events and Government should be standard part of school ciriculum. We need another Democrat as President to fix things but things won’t get fixed unless the majority of Congress is Democrat as well.

This i a great example of why american auto makers are failing. The only problem GM,ford,and chrysler have are the unions ,and in my opion the union will be the death of this great country. Unless the US automakers can distance themselves from the UAW they are doomed.There is absolutely no reason for these great americam companys to have to pay the excessive health care,and retirement pentions for all all of its employes, you sure as hell dont see toyota doing that .to my amazement i dont see how they have hung on as long as they have .If it was not for these high costs the great auto companys in the US could make toyota and honda ashamed of the crap they sell.
